Mulți oameni fac profit pe termen lung pentru că judecata direcției pe cicluri mari este corectă, dar pe termen scurt totul este afectat de zgomot, tranzacționare frecventă și consum emoțional. Tranzacționarea pe termen scurt nu este doar o micșorare a ciclului pe termen lung, ci un joc complet diferit, unde rata de succes, raportul profit/pierdere, comisioanele și disciplina de execuție sunt amplificate. Astfel, devine ușor să urmărești creșterea când vezi o creștere și să vinzi când vezi o scădere, tranzacționând de multe ori pe zi. De exemplu, dacă dimineața urmărești o creștere și pierzi 1%, după-amiaza cumperi la minim și pierzi iar 1%, iar seara, nemulțumit, faci din nou o tranzacție
